(2-Carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide - Introduction
(2-Carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is an organic compound with the chemical formula C24H21BrP.
Nature:
(2-Carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is a colorless to pale yellow crystalline solid with good solubility. It is insoluble in water, but can be dissolved in organic solvents such as chloroform, ethanol and ether.
Use:
(2-Carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide is commonly used in organic synthesis reaction of phosphating reaction. It can be used as a phosphorus source to participate in Staudinger reaction, phosphating reaction and Wittig reaction. It can also be used as a ligand for organometallic catalysts.
Preparation Method:
(2-Carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide can be obtained by reacting triphenylphosphonium bromide with a carboxyethyl alkyl halide. First, carboxyethyl dimethyl sulfoxide is produced by the reaction of iodobromoacetic acid and dimethyl sulfoxide. Triphenylphosphonium bromide and carboxyethyl dimethyl sulfoxide are then reacted under basic conditions to produce the desired product.

(2-Carboxyethyl)triphenylphosphonium bromide has low toxicity under general conditions, but it still needs to comply with routine laboratory safety operations.
